About the Poems - SSAbout the Poemsby Sandra Simonds "Apostrophe s": This poem is about sexual possession. Who is who? Who is she or she etc. There are two women that keep getting confused in a man's mind. To him, they are sort of mechanical. One woman is raised as a Christian, the other is a Jew. "I am Fat, Frustrated and Cannot Write a Poem": I think that the title of this poem tell the reader everything that there is to be said about this one! "Quinine or Curare": This poem was written as a response to the fact that I know (and many of us, for that matter) know so many people who have had or have cancer. The questions are taken from a book on gardening that I bought from the Goodwill. "You": I think that it is fair to say that these are more notes to a poem rather than a poem in itself (at this point in time). I think that when I revise it to my satisfaction, I will cut the first two stanzas. The poem is about the always troubled relationship between the body and mind. |
