About the Poems - PDAbout the Poemsby Peter Davis “Teaching My Dog to Program the V.C.R.” Her name is Hank. It’s confusing for a lot of people. She can do tons of tricks, but I can’t get her to leave our guests alone. I say to her over and over, “Hank, down, girl! Down!” “At the Hospital” When I was a kid I had some medical problems. When I think of my mom during those times, I get weepy. Now that I have kids it makes me kinda sick. “How My Wife Disturbs the Universe” I’m so glad that I’m sexually attracted to my wife. She’s beautiful and smart, but, even better, she can drive me crazy. “Finding Yourself Searching for Something” Part of my identity as a human is that I was a skateboarder when I was younger. And my brother, who I shared a room with when I was kid, was cooler than a skateboard. “One of the Things That Is Unlikely, But Possible” I’m an atheist, so you might assume I believe in nothingness, which isn’t the case at all. Of course, I don’t believe in somethingness either. It’s simpler than that, as I imagine it. Anyway, there is no escaping home improvement projects. |
