by Michelle Detorie About the poems: "Rape Kit" and "17" were written during April, aka "national" poetry month, as a sort of sequel to the poems I wrote in April 2007 for Bellum Letters. I wrote these poems against the backdrop of MSM chatter about sexual assaults in Iraq. "Whore Forrest" and "Fallopian Blooms" are from a series of allegorical poems about two girls who live in a dangerous world where factories, drugs, and fairy tales are all mixed up. "Autumnal Mechanical" is a love poem.
