About the Poems
by Magus Magnus These five pieces form a series of "first bump" poems; in playing with rhythm, I went for accent on the first word of each line (that's also why there are quite a few lines consisting of one word only, hard stress there). At the beginning, something about honoring James Brown drove me, but at this point it's simply an exploration of accenting the first word of a line. These poems are part of a progressing work titled Imposter!: instances, regrets, so far filled with formal and informal experiments, and thematic inconsistencies.
