About the Poems
by Dave Newman I wrote drafts for two of these poems a couple years ago when I was going back to the books of poems I first fell in love with and re-reading old issue of the Wormwood Review, one of the great American independent poetry magazines. Those readings also inspired another poem about growing up in a house without books but, nonetheless, wanting to write. The last poems are about my favorite subjects: getting laid and getting drunk. The world needs more of the both. Poetry helps, too.
