About the Poems
by Cati Porter These poems are from my new manuscript, My Skies of Small Horses, written over the course of the past two years. These poems are driven by my current fascination with wordplay, with how the mind can make even the most random of associations meaningful, if it tries hard enough. These poems are heavily influenced by children’s and folk songs, pop culture, and a desire to explore a fabulist sort of domestic space. These poems may or may not alleviate the symptoms of clinical depression. These poems are to be used as directed. Take two at bedtime with a tonic of diesel fuel and gin. Or maybe just gin.
