About the Poems
by Alan King The poems in NTM came out of a dare. A friend challenged me to write five poems a week. I'm grateful for the discipline that's come out of the challenge. It's become some what of a ritual between my friend and I, sharing the "five for five" (five new poems we've both written for the week). Every week, after teaching our classes, usually over burritos and iced teas, we share our poems with each other. The poems in NTM are part of the "five for five" ritual.
