About the Poems - JRAbout the Poemsby Jessy Randall "The Girlfriend of Time" I know "Don't take it personal" isn't grammatically correct, but I like the idea of Time speaking like a punk teenager. "Hiding the Toys" In particular I often hide, and then discard, toys from Happy Meals. But recently my kids acquired the tool required to take those toys apart, the ASD3T Triangle Head Screwdriver, available here: http://silverhilltools.com/screwdrivers. So now I leave the destruction to them. "Bumps" This poem is from when my son was quite small and always seemed to have some kind of rash or hives or skin problem. I had a book that showed the different kinds of bumps and what they meant. Some were no big deal but others required treatment. Probably the nicest bumps were the ones from Roseola, which signified that the fever was over. "Is It Okay to Cry at Work?" This came out of an actual news story advertised on a local TV channel. It seemed to me to be more a poem than a news story. "I Am Too Ugly to Have an Affair" I have done enough. |
