About the Poems

by Aaron Anstett

"If I Had Another Face": I understand that Springfield, Illinois' new Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum features an animatronic Abraham Lincoln wrestling a holographic Abraham Lincoln in a cage match perpetually until a victor emerges.

"And Then": Based in fact, unfortunately.

"Shanty": If only, annually, we shed our skeletons. The ones from each year of our childhoods could rest inside each other like matryoshka.

"My Sentimental Education": Eagerly I await the big-budget action-adventure spectacular based on Bazooka Joe comics.

"$500,000 Policy": This poem should not be considered a binding legal document.
