About the Poems
by Gina Myers "A Model Year" was written over the course of two days. It began with the challenge to write a long poem--ideally, ten pages made up of nine couplets each. After finishing the poem, revision eventually chipped away at this form leaving some sections shorter. The subject matter is simply what was happening in my life at the time--going through a breakup, moving, being unhappy at work, living in the current political climate, etc.
