Peter Shippy - Bio

Peter Jay Shippy is the author of Thieves’ Latin (University of Iowa Press), winner the 2002 Iowa Poetry Prize. BlazeVOX Books will publish his abecedarian suite, Alphaville, as an e-book in 2006. His work has been published in numerous journals, including The American Poetry Review, Fence, FIELD, The Iowa Review, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and Ploughshares. Shippy has been awarded writing fellowships from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. He just received a 2005 Gertrude Stein Award for innovative poetry from Green Integer Press. He teaches at Emerson College in Boston.
