About the Poems
by Michael Rerick Each of these poems comes from an idea of language-persona and self-pastiche. By this I think I mean ingesting all sorts of language, from poetic to that of the mass media, and ejecting something of my own mix and organization. Beyond that, movement and rhythm (hopefully) keeps these poems going and allows them to speak to each other (that, and they are part of a larger project). Thanks to Kristi Maxwell who allowed me to use the title of her manuscript, Log of Dead Birds, in “In the Topography.”
