the knees of the tinny world

Rebecca Loudon

I swing upside down
in the boyhood of my body
O body
O lovely length
palm my nipples
my belly
anxious for the puddingstone
the knacker

I swing upside down
in the boyhood of my body
O arms that stand at night
O narrow feet in the stirrups
I’m going to die
opened from the middle
let’s get this show on the road

I swing upside down
in the boyhood of my body
O legs
O clever fingers
my body displeases you
hold me under water until my tail
curls down

I swing upside down
in the boyhood of my body
O dear friend
O tender hook
I breathe into your shirt
as summer’s buttery cake
breaks open
