[from The Church (1)]

Rauan Klassnik

He stands over us. Streaked. Bloody. And dripping. Huge-beaked and huge-clawed. Over us. And over us. Staring up into his steel God’s eye.

The world drips down in pieces. A man——his cow. Stretched out in sun. Planes. Tanks. Mists of Typhus. Flowers and stars. Over us. And over us.

Lying here tingling. The world. Its stars. Our heart. Rising up. Holding each other. Clenched. And clenched. In a steel’s God’s eye.

In the cold’s stampeding. Bones and oil. A stained rug. Where we made love. And fucked. Made love and fucked. He stands over us. And tears at us.

He stands over us. And tears at us.

And tears at us.

And tears at us.

Clenched. And clenched. And clenched.

In a steel God’s eye.
