Tudor-Style

Lily Ladewig

By 1536 ladies headdresses ceased to be replicas
of Gothic pinnacles and began to resemble Tudor-style
windows. Hats were worn indoors as well as out. The brim
was sometimes slashed in various patterns to compliment
the stone walls of smaller castles. Red was a favorite color.
Before Anne Boleyn knelt before the executioner
her ladies removed her ermine hat revealing to all
in attendance her simple linen coif
