Dorothee Lang

I'll phone, you said but I
Wasn't there when you finally did
So all you left were some words

On the answering machine, they
Were blinking red as if they had
Something to say though

All they said was hi
And try again later, only now I wait
For later and more

For the moment when we would
Meet again in
Between the notes

We leave
While we make our ways through
Mute days
