Variations of a Brother War ( Probabilities Triptych ) - 2

J.A. Tyler

Ghosts

What it means to be a ghost is to be a father who isn’t. What it means to be a ghost is to be a father who had a rifle and who took that rifle into a war. What it means to be a ghost is to find out that aim is not concrete, that triggers pull different bodies upwards. What it means to be a ghost is to lose these sons. What it means to be a ghost is to stand on the lake’s shore or on a family’s edge. Leaves turning, a flamed autumn. This loss of love.
